Breeding conditions:

Arctic Foxes were numerous but did not occupy dens. No nests were recorded in Snowy Owls and Pomarine Skuas. All the early clutches of waders, and the majority of later ones were destroyed by predators: less than 10% of found nests survived until hatching.

Rodent dynamics:

Numbers of both lemming species were average in late June at the snow-free patches (75-78 ind./ha), decreasing later (32 ind./ha in optimal habitats by 20 July).
